Mourne Mountains

Just when I thought winter had released its grip and spring was looming, we get a short sharp blast of cold and a dusting of snow. I had a some unfinished photography in the Annalong Valley for an up and coming publication later this year. The weather for the day looked good… at least up until mid-day. I headed off early to try and maximise my time there before it clouded up. My plan was to shoot panoramic photographs mainly around the Annalong Valley area and along the Blue Lough track.

The high mournes can be a bleak place to be in the winter, but it has unequalled beauty and serenity that despite the cold and the biting wind makes it difficult to resist. I much prefer the winter in the mountains it’s quieter, and the human presence is much less evident.

Here are a several photographs I processed quickly. All of the images were photographed on a panoramic head (with the exception of the frozen stream shots). Each image was a composite of around 15 photographs and stitched together using Adobe Photomerge.
